Mark Christensen

 Mark Christensen is a human resources professional with over 30 years of experience. He holds the SPHR certification. He has been with MetroNational for over 17 years and is currently the Director of Human Resources, overseeing all HR functions from employment to benefits. MetroNational is a privately-held real estate investment, development and management company headquartered in Houston. Each MetroNational property – spanning office, retail, healthcare, restaurant and hospitality, and land development – fully integrates MetroNational’s best-of-class services, providing the highest quality and enduring value. The company, which was founded in 1954, owns and manages more than 8.9 million square feet of commercial real estate properties primarily located in Greater Houston. MetroNational’s largest development is Memorial City located in West Houston. MetroNational has been recognized as one of Houston’s Healthiest Employers, Top Work Places, Best Places to Work, and most recently received Gold Achievement through the American Heart Association. Mark graduated from the University of Wyoming and resides in Houston with his wife of 37 years. He enjoys running as time permits and has been a regular participant in the Houston Half Marathon and Rodeo 10K Run for years. Mark originally served on the board of the Houston Wellness Association starting in 2012, then after the merger with the Houston Business Group on Health he has continued to serve on the newly named HBCH – Houston Business Coalition on Health.


Valerie Hulse
Vice President of Global Compensation, Benefits and HRIS


Valerie Hulse is the Vice President of Global Compensation, Benefits and HRIS at KBR, Inc., a global technology, engineering, procurement and construction company serving the hydrocarbons and government services industries. She serves on the Board for the Houston Business Coalition on Health (HBCH) and participates on its Executive Committee. 

Valerie has worked in the areas of compensation and benefits for 11 years, currently in the Human Resources department and previously in Accounting. She is responsible for the design, delivery and administration of competitive compensation and benefits programs, and leads effective changes through implementations and enhancements of technology solutions that span HR globally.

Valerie’s greatest strengths are her business acumen, drive, and leadership. She thrives on challenges, particularly those that solve problems for the company and her business partners. She is committed to delivering high performing benefits solutions that will help engage employees to be healthier and more productive.

Valerie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and MBA from the University of Houston. She is a Certified Public Accountant and she holds Certified Executive Compensation Professional and Certified Compensation Professional designations.





Ted Barrall

Ted Barrall has over 20 years of Human Resources experience in various leadership roles and has been the Director of Compensation and Benefits at The Friedkin Group since 2012. Based in Houston with 2,700 associates, The Friedkin Group is made up of auto-industry related companies including Gulf States Toyota, US Auto Logistics, and Westside and Northside Lexus. Friedkin has received wellness awards from the Houston Business Journal, American Heart Association, the Healthiest 100, and the HBCH. Ted has a Bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley and a Masters from Indiana University, Bloomington. Ted tries to stay fit in his spare time and is passionate about engaging his company’s associates in improving their health and reducing healthcare costs.

Becky Brosche
National Director Employers Payer and Channel Access

Becky Brosche is a National Director, Employers on the Payer and Channel Access Team at Pfizer Inc. She has extensive experience as part of Pfizer’s National Employer Group where she has actively partnered with employers, coalitions, and other healthcare market stakeholders for over 13 years to address issues related to health and productivity. Becky focuses on collaborating with large employers and their Health Management Teams to develop comprehensive population health initiatives to reduce the risk of poor health to the bottom line. Key areas of focus have been around smoking cessation, vaccination strategies, depression and cardiovascular health. She has also worked with various employers on their overall strategic approach to Value-Based Benefit Design. During her 29 years with Pfizer she has held multiple leadership positions in sales, and also managed care account management. Becky is a graduate of Auburn University, where she graduated with honors with a degree in Public Relations. She lettered all four years there on the Women’s Varsity Tennis Team and is still an active fan of the game.


Sandy Clark

Sandy Clark is currently the Director of Human Resources for King Ranch, Inc. with direct responsibility for leadership and management of all Human Capital. She has been a part of the King Ranch family for almost 20 years where she has experience with Accounting, Benefits and Payroll. She is responsible for the strategy, plan design, well-being, compliance, and communication of all benefits and payroll. She currently sits on the Benefits and Retirement committee for King Ranch which is responsible for the final decisions of all the employee benefits. She is passion about her involvement in the Well-being of the employees of King Ranch. Her excitement spill over to all aspects her life as she continues to research and strategize on ways to improvement the current well-being of King Ranch through data analytics, plan designs, and employee engagement. Sandy is committed to giving back to her community as she is very involved at her church and participants in a number of charity 5k runs in the Houston area every year.



Karl Dalal 
Director for Health and Welfare Benefits,




Karl Dalal is BP’s Director for Health and Welfare Benefits. He leads a team responsible for all aspects of the design, delivery, and administration of BP’s health and welfare benefit programs offered to more than 75,000 employees/retirees in the U.S and represent a spend of over $500 million annually. Karl and his team manage the medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, wellness, life & disability insurance, voluntary benefit programs, as well as the onsite Health & Wellness Center. Karl works closely with the company’s senior management team to set the overall strategic direction for benefit programs. Karl joined BP in 2010 from Ford Motor Company, where he was the Director of Healthcare, Insurance and HR Programs. He has over 25 years of experience in numerous areas including healthcare, benefits, HR, finance, and accounting. Karl serves as the chairperson of the Houston Business Coalition on Health (HBCH) - a local non-profit industry coalition. He also participates on Aetna’s Client Advisory Group, Express Scripts’ National Accounts Advisory Board, as well as on several committees of the National Business Group on Health (NBGH). Mr. Dalal received an MBA from Purdue University and a BA in Economics from Stony Brook University.




 Sheryl Dasco, J.D.,  Dr.P.H.

Sheryl Tatar Dacso, J.D., Dr.P.H. is a partner in the Health Law practice of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. Dr. Dacso concentrates her practice of over 35 years, on health care compliance, regulations and transactions, including managed care organizations and contracting, physician practice mergers, acquisitions and business ventures.

Before practicing law in California and Texas, she earned her B.A. from the University of Texas, a Master of Public Health and a Doctor of Public Health from UT Houston Health Science Center and a J.D. from South Texas College of Law.

Dr. Dacso is a faculty member at the University of Houston where she teaches at the Law School in the Health Law Institute and in the College of Technology, and teaches in the Medical Humanities program at the University of Texas Medical School as a McGovern Fellow.  She is a thought leader and frequent speaker on many health care topics such as health information technology including e-health transactions, HIPAA and privacy, and Telemedicine use and regulation. This year, she was listed in Texas and National Best Lawyers and identified as a “Super Lawyer” by Texas Monthly. She has written several text books and articles on a broad range of health care topics ranging from managed care contracting to virtual practice arrangements among physician practices and is the regular contributing co-author of a chapter in the BNA publication of E-Health, Privacy and Security Law (Third Edition.) She is a member of the editorial board of “Digital Health Legal,” a Cecile Park Media publication

Richard Easley

Richard Easley is Sr. Director of Benefits for ABM, North America’s largest provider of integrated facility solutions. He leads a team responsible for all aspects of strategy, design, delivery, and communication of ABM’s global benefit programs offered to more than 110,000 employees. Richard has 20+ years’ experience of driving human resources programs and initiatives that support business goals and strategy.
Richard joined ABM in 2011 from AonHewitt, where he was a senior consultant. He is a frequent public speaker, and has presented to organizations such as National Business Group on Health (NBGH), World Healthcare Congress and Conference Board. He also participates on NBGH’s Public Policy Board. Richard holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin.



John Fosdick
DHS Group Business Development Manager

Prior to his current role at DHS Group, Fosdick, who has his B.B.A. in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin, held senior account and director-level positions at both Petris Technology and Oxand, Inc. After realizing the potential for growth and development in the health and wellness data and analytics industry, he joined DHS Group as the Business Development Manager for Western US Accounts.

 At DHS Group, John demonstrates sales and leadership experience in both operations and sales and has successfully increased clientele relations and opportunities in his management region. Through his work and the rest of the DHS Group team, the company is an emerging leader in North America’s growing population health space.

John’s passion and commitment to others is his driving force to elevate population health and something that continues on to many other areas of his life. On a professional front, he is currently associated with the Southwest Benefits Association and the Society of Petroleum Engineering. Personally, John dedicates himself as a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Texas Cowboys, Life Bible Study Teacher, FamilyLegacy Ministries, His Grace Foundation – Texas Children’s Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and Houston Business Coalition on Health.

A third generation Houstonian, John married native Houstonian, Janet McCarthy Fosdick, and together, they have been blessed with five children.


Dennis Fox

Dennis Fox is the Compensation & Benefits Manager for Motiva Enterprises, LLC. He has over 25 years of experience in several areas of HR including benefits, compensation, and HRIS. He received his BA in Economics from Rice University and his MBA from the University of Houston. Mr. Fox completed the Advanced Human Resources Executive Program at the University of Michigan’s Ross Business School in 2016. In addition to serving on the HBCH Board, he is also a member of the 2017 Conference Committee for the Council on Employee Benefits and is a member of the Client Advisory Councils for Cigna and Merrill Lynch. He also serves as a volunteer leader for the Boy Scouts of America.


Sheri Lytle
Vice President of Human Services

Sheri Lytle has over 25 years’ experience in the field of Human Resources. She holds a certification of Senior Professional in Human Resource Management (SPHR) from the Human Resource Certification Institute and a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) from the Society for Human Resource Management. Sheri is also a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and a Human Resource Project Manager (HRPM). She has earned two bachelors’ degrees and a masters’ degree with concentrations in the field of business, human resources and industrial psychology along with information technology. She has been nominated and appeared in the “Who’s Who in Human Resources” and “Who’s Who in Professionals” publications. Sheri has won several other awards over the course of her career for her outstanding contributions to the field of Human Resources.

Sheri joined Goodwill Industries of Houston in 2017 prior to that she served as Vice President of Human Resources for Silver Eagle Distributors, LP and the Houston Zoo respectively. She is actively involved in all facets of human resources, such as talent management, recruiting, hiring, safety, worker’s compensation, training, professional development, employee relations, benefits, risk management and government compliance. Sheri also serves as an adjunct faculty member for Olivet Nazarene University where she has taught human resources and business courses for over 15 years. Topics include: Employment Law, Performance Management, Training and Development, Recruitment and Selection, Safety and Regulatory Compliance, Organizational and Industrial Psychology, Conflict Management and Resolution, Developing and Retaining Top Talent, along with several others.

Prior to relocating to the Houston area, she spent time a portion of her career in the Midwest employed in both service and manufacturing sectors. Sheri has also served on several boards. She currently serves as a Board member for The Healthcare Research Foundation and the Houston Business Coalition on Health. Sheri also serves as a Thought Leader for the Society for Human Resource Management, an Human Resources Council member for the American Management Association and a member of the Employer Task Force for the Office of the Attorney General in the State of Texas.




Jason Mahler

Jason is a Senior Vice President with the Health and Benefits practice in The Woodlands office of Aon Hewitt. He has over 13 years of experience consulting in all areas of group health and welfare benefit programs, including strategy and design, wellbeing, consumer driven health care, plan financing, procurement, and delivery system transformation. He has assisted many organizations in the development of benefit strategies and in aligning benefit programs with those strategies. Jason serves on the Aon Health Deep Dive team and Large Market Steering Committee, where he focuses on driving innovation and developing the next generation of healthcare solutions. He is a frequent public speaker, and has presented at the National Business Group on Health, the DFW Business Group on Health and the Houston Business Coalition on Health. Jason is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Abilene Christian University. Jason also holds a General Lines License for Life, Accident, and Health in Texas.

Sue Prochazka

Sue joined Rice in 2016 where she is their Director of Benefits. In this role she directs all aspects of the University’s benefits program, including strategy, administration, design and delivery of Health and Welfare and Retirement programs. She is dedicated to supporting the goals and visions of the university through providing well-suited, thoughtful benefits programs to its very diverse employee population. Prior to her work in benefits, Sue was a Human Resources Generalist in the retail and call center environments for 13 years.   She made her transition to benefits in 2000 when she joined Mercer to provide benefits outsourcing and consulting to a group of jumbo and large K-12 school districts in Texas representing over 50,000 employees. She has worked on the employer side of benefits since 2014, overseeing the establishment of the benefits department at NOV Spin-off company, DNOW. Sue holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources and Group Benefits Associate Certifications, and is a Member of the State Bar of Texas. She holds a B.S. in Psychology from Georgetown University, and a J.D. from South Texas College of Law.


Chris Skisak

Chris became Director in August of 2014. Prior to HBCH, he was President and Founder of Corporate Health Management Solutions, an organizational health and productivity management company providing consulting and software to employers and their health management partners to demonstrate the value of an integrated health management strategy. Dr. Skisak had previously worked 25 years with Houston Fortune 50 energy companies in a variety of health management positions. He is originally from Chicago and attended the University of Illinois. He received his B.S. from the University of Houston and his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Texas School of Public Health.




Michael Tucker

Michael Tucker is the Large Market Health and Benefits Practice Leader in Willis Towers Watson’s Houston office. He is responsible for the satisfaction of clients that collectively insure over 1 Million lives and spend over $5B annually on medical and pharmacy benefits. Michael has 18 years of consulting, health care sales and leadership experience. Currently, Michael works with clients in Energy, Food Service, Chemical, Healthcare and Power Generation Industries to design cost competitive benefit programs that enhance his client’s ability to attract and retain employees.  His areas of expertise include building multi-year strategies, health care financing, vendor negotiations, and the design of health management programs. In addition to his role at WTW, Michael is on the Board of Directors of the Houston Business Coalition on Health. HBCH is committed to being the leading resource for Houston employers dedicated to providing health benefits at a sustainable cost while improving quality and the employee experience. Prior to his current role, Michael spent seven years with CIGNA Healthcare and was responsible for sales and account management in Central Texas.  In this role, Michael helped employers develop strategies to improve the health of their population and drive a lower total cost of providing benefits. Jocelyn F. Wright

Ms. Jocelyn F. Wright has over 25 years of business experience in operational and compliance process management and review in the private, non-profit and governmental sectors, including over 18 years human resources management and consulting experience. She currently holds the position of Human Resources Deputy Assistant Director for Strategic Benefits Planning and Design at the City of Houston (COH). Ms. Wright led the development of the strategic plan that changed a $15 million benefits deficit to a $43 million savings in three years. Prior to joining the COH, and offering independent human resources and business process improvement consultant services, Ms. Wright served as the Director of the Human Resources Consulting Services division at McConnell Jones Lanier & Murphy LLP (MJLM). She was the Director of Benefits, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) departments for the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) prior to joining MJLM. Ms. Wright is also skilled in designing and implementing strategic process improvement, compensation and benefits plans, and establishing systems and internal controls, which result in operational efficiency and effectiveness within budgetary constraints. Her responsibilities have also included Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Drug and Alcohol Program regulatory compliance. She holds the following certifications: SPHR, IMPA-SCP and SHRM-SCP; and received a BBA in Accounting and JD from Texas Southern University.
