Speaker Bio

Carrie Rust is Chief Human Resources Officer of Ellwood Group, Inc. (ELLWOOD) in New Castle, PA.  ELLWOOD is a family-owned, privately-held company that has been operating for over 110 years. Through growth and acquisition, ELLWOOD has become a major supplier of high-quality, engineered, heavy metal components to customers all over the world.

Carrie has over 30 years of experience in the metals industry and is responsible for leading ELLWOOD’s long-term people strategy and team member initiatives across the organization, including compensation and benefits, payroll, recruitment, training and development, succession planning, evaluating and integrating strategic acquisitions, and facilitating ELLWOOD’s unique culture of positive engagement with more than 2,000 employees in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. 

Carrie is the Chairperson of the Lawrence County School-To-Work Board of Directors, a Board Member of the Houston Business Coalition on Health (HBCH), and served for several years on the Pittsburgh Business Group on Health’s (PBGH) Board of Directors.  She is a 2019 Pittsburgh Business Times Workplace Wellness Champion award winner.

Carrie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Grove City College, a Master of Education in Instructional Systems from Pennsylvania State University, and an Executive Certificate in Organizational Consulting and Change Leadership from Georgetown University.
