Denise Crandon is the Senior Manager of Medical Programs for the Houston Independent School District where she manages the Medical, Pharmacy, and Wellness plans; the onsite Employee Health and Wellness Centers and the Employee Assistance Program with a combined budget of over $170 million. Ms. Crandon previously managed the Health & Welfare, Retirement and Wellness plans for Dallas Area Rapid Transit and has worked for corporations such as J.P. Morgan Chase, BHP Billiton, Service Corporation International and Prudential Healthcare. 

Denise was elected to the Board of Directors for the Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems (TEXPERS) from 2014 through 2016 and chaired the compensation and conference committees. Denise was a recipient of the 2006 DART “Outstanding Woman of the Year” Award and was a presidential appointed Trustee for the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Retirement Plan & Trust Committee. 

Ms. Crandon earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Sam Houston State University. In addition to completing the TEXPERS Certified Trustee Training, Denise is also certified through the Human Resources Certification Institute as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP). She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management. Ms. Crandon currently serves on the Houston Adult SMA Advisory Board and volunteers for We Are Girls Houston and MDA Houston.
