Bio
Elaine Britt, SPHR, SHRM-SCP
Executive Director of HR Operations
Rice University
Elaine brings more than 25 years of experience in both the employer-based HR world, as well consulting with clients on HR strategy and day-to-day benefits operations. She has worked with many client industries from manufacturing and oil and gas to nonprofit and higher education. Elaine prefers a data-driven approach to evaluating and strategizing benefits decisions.
EXPERIENCE
Elaine initially worked for a hospital conducting market research and strategic planning, and was engaged in helping that hospital develop an HMO-based insurance plan. Thereafter, she transitioned to employer benefits consulting and worked in that field for over 5 years before moving to the employer side of HR.
Elaine worked as the assistant VP/director of benefits and compensation for Rice University for over 13 years, and developed an appreciation and deep understanding of HR and HR systems. There, she also served on the board of the Houston Business Group on Health and supported the growth of that organization through timely sharing of employer-based experiences within the Houston community.
In 2014, Elaine moved back into consulting after seeing the increased need for sound benefits advisory services given the changes under the Affordable Care Act and other compliance concerns. She also spent several years leading benefits administration operations and developing a new benefits administration platform.
She returned to Rice in 2023 and is excited to help Rice remain an employer of choice and achieve the HR excellence goals and objectives of the new Rice leadership.
