Ellen Akers

Dr. Ellen Akers serves as the Director of Employee Health and Wellness for Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District (CISD), where she leads efforts to promote the well-being of all district employees, regardless of insurance status. In this role, she oversees the Employee Wellness Clinic and Fitness Center, manages health care plans, Workers’ Compensation, and employee leave programs, ensuring comprehensive support for staff.

Before stepping into her current position, Dr. Akers held several leadership roles, including Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction, Director of Assessment, Accountability, and Research, and Dean of Curriculum and Instruction. Her career began as a physics teacher, demonstrating her deep roots in education. Prior to her work in education, she gained valuable experience in the public sector as an insurance broker, bringing a diverse skill set to her leadership in employee health and wellness.

She resides in League City, Texas, with her husband of 25 years, Bruce.​
